I sometimes hear some people never say bad things about others. Such a positive way of living must be one of the best ways to maintain smooth relationships, or these people may simply think all humans including themselves have faults and shortcomings.
In Japanese society, people are basically required to respect what others think and do and not to make waves.
However, Western countries criticize such nationality as being ambiguous because Japanese people do not clearly say yes and no.
Today, when politics and economy are rapidly becoming global, not only government or company leaders but also general Japanese people have many opportunities to meet foreigners.
That is why we need to consider how to communicate with foreigners, who have cultural differences in values and relationships.
I think Japanese people should learn social skills so that they can say yes and no clearly without losing their unique senses, which helped secure society.
This requires understanding of other cultures, which can be achieved by checking international news on TV or newspaper.
Japan is said to be poor at diplomacy. In tough negotiations, however, we Japanese may conclude somewhere in between yes and no, like a little closer to no.
