												| | There
												are many kinds of discrimination
												in the world, including the
												following major ones:
												discrimination between countries
												and races (such as white,
												yellow, and black races), and
												discrimination between classes
												in a country.
 Then,
												what causes discrimination? For
												faster understanding of the
issue, let’s take a look at
												possible discrimination factors.
What comes to mind are (1)
												appearance, (2) ability, and (3)
gap between the rich and the
												poor.

 Most
												of international and racial
												discrimination described above
may result from the factors (1)
												through (3), especially linked
to skin color or body figure
												issues. Meanwhile, domestic
												discrimination stems from the
												intentional making of
												discriminated classes for
												religious or political reasons,
as well as the factors (1)
												through (3), which occur
												spontaneously.

 Undoubtedly, discrimination is a
bad thing, and in most cases
												only those who are discriminated
												can understand how painful it
												is.
 In my
												previous essay, I said that
												wherever there are more than
												three people, bullying can
occur, and it can never be
												eliminated. This is because the
												act of bullying itself is
												discrimination and the reasons
												why people resort to bullying
can be perfectly applied to any
												of the three discrimination
												factors.

 By
												nature, people try to find
												superiority and meaning in
												themselves by bullying and
												discriminating others. Even
												those who usually speak nice
												words should have such a
tendency in the bottom of their
												hearts. Unconscious
												discrimination is exactly what
												it is. Generally (but with
												exceptions), there is a gender
												difference in promotion rates in
												companies.

 For
												example, it is well-known that
												the number of women in
												management in Japan is
												significantly fewer than that in
												Europe and the U.S.
												Unfortunately, sexist policies
have existed in Japan on the
												grounds of nationality or
												disadvantages of giving birth
												and raising children. This is
												nothing but intentional
												discrimination.

 Some
readers may think “it is a
												decision based on not
												discrimination but selection
												taking advantage of gender
												characteristics.” It is true
												that choosing things or
												companies is “select” and
												“differentiate,” but it mostly
												leads to discrimination in human
												relations.
 After
all, the only way to minimize
												bullying and discrimination is
												to rationally control the action
of the mind in every human
												being.
